The Rider’s Yard is currently an independent motorcycle riding community/group and is not currently incorporated as a company or other formal organisation.

By using our website, creating an account, joining the community, registering for a ride or event, or participating in a The Rider’s Yard activity, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the website or participate in our activities.

2. The Rider’s Yard community

The Rider’s Yard exists to bring motorcycle riders together through:

• Motorcycle meet-ups

• Community activities

• Social events

• Route sharing

• Online community activities

• Rider content

• Other motorcycle-related activities

The Rider’s Yard may introduce new activities, services and membership features as the community develops.

We reserve the right to change, suspend or discontinue any community feature or activity where reasonably necessary.

3. Eligibility

You must provide accurate information when creating an account, registering for a ride or using our services.

Where a particular ride or event has age, licence or other eligibility requirements, you must meet those requirements before participating.

You must not use another person’s account or provide false information about your identity or riding credentials.

4. Membership

The Rider’s Yard currently provides a free community membership through the website.

Membership may provide access to features including:

• Ride information

• Event information

• Member communications

• The Yard Journal

• Community activities

• Other features introduced in the future

Membership features may change as The Rider’s Yard develops.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate a membership where there is a reasonable basis to believe that a member has:

• Seriously breached these Terms

• Engaged in threatening, abusive or discriminatory behaviour

• Deliberately endangered other members

• Used the community for illegal purposes

• Misused another person’s information

• Repeatedly disrupted organised activities

• Attempted to defraud or harm the community or its members

Where reasonably appropriate, we may give a member an opportunity to address an issue before membership is suspended or terminated.

5. Your account

If you create an account, you are responsible for:

• Providing accurate information

• Keeping your login details secure

• Not sharing your account with other people

• Informing us if you believe your account has been compromised

You must not create an account for someone else without their permission.

We may suspend an account where necessary to protect the community, website or other users.

6. Joining rides and events

Information about individual rides and events may be provided through the website, social media, email or other community channels.

Each ride or event may have its own:

• Date

• Meeting point

• Route

• Distance

• Estimated duration

• Rider requirements

• Booking requirements

• Maximum number of participants

• Cancellation arrangements

• Additional safety information

You are responsible for reading the information provided for a ride or event before deciding to participate.

Registering for a ride does not guarantee that the ride will take place.

We may change, postpone or cancel a ride or event where reasonably necessary, including because of weather, road conditions, safety concerns, route issues, insufficient participation or circumstances outside our control.

7. Rider responsibility

Motorcycling carries inherent risks.

By participating in a ride or motorcycle activity, you acknowledge that you are responsible for your own riding and decisions.

You must ensure that you:

• Hold the appropriate licence or riding entitlement

• Have appropriate motorcycle insurance

• Are legally entitled to ride the motorcycle you are using

• Are riding a legal and roadworthy motorcycle

• Have appropriate protective equipment

• Are physically and mentally capable of riding safely

• Follow applicable road traffic laws

• Follow the Highway Code

• Ride according to the road, traffic and weather conditions

• Follow reasonable instructions from ride organisers where those instructions relate to the organisation or safety of the group

• Ride within your own abilities

You must not participate if you are under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or any substance that could impair your ability to ride safely.

8. Your motorcycle

You are responsible for your motorcycle.

Before participating in a ride, you should ensure that your motorcycle is:

• Road legal

• Roadworthy

• Appropriately insured

• Appropriately taxed where required

• Appropriately licensed or otherwise legally permitted to be used

• Suitable for the planned journey

You are responsible for checking your motorcycle before a ride.

The Rider’s Yard does not inspect or certify motorcycles and does not guarantee that another participant’s motorcycle is roadworthy or legally compliant.

9. Riding within the group

The Rider’s Yard encourages considerate and responsible riding.

Participants must:

• Ride within their own ability

• Maintain appropriate awareness of other road users

• Avoid unnecessary or dangerous manoeuvres

• Follow traffic laws

• Avoid aggressive or reckless riding

• Avoid pressuring other riders to ride faster than they are comfortable with

• Respect other members and road users

• Follow any ride-specific instructions provided by organisers

Group riding does not change the normal rules of the road.

Each rider remains individually responsible for their own actions and decisions.

10. Ride leaders and organisers

Where a ride has a designated ride leader, organiser or marshal, their role is to help coordinate the group.

A ride leader may:

• Explain the route

• Provide meeting instructions

• Communicate stops

• Provide general ride information

• Help coordinate the group

• Make reasonable decisions about the organisation of the ride

A ride leader is not responsible for controlling individual riders or guaranteeing their safety.

Riders remain responsible for their own riding, decisions and compliance with the law.

A ride leader may change, shorten, stop or abandon a route where reasonably necessary.

11. Route information

Routes may be created using mapping and route-planning services.

Route information is provided for guidance.

Roads, traffic restrictions, closures, diversions, weather and other conditions can change.

You remain responsible for assessing the road ahead and following current road signs, traffic regulations and the Highway Code.

You must not blindly follow a route if doing so would be unsafe or unlawful.

If route information conflicts with road signs or legal restrictions, you must follow the applicable road signs and legal requirements.

12. Breakdowns and mechanical problems

You are responsible for dealing with mechanical problems affecting your motorcycle.

The Rider’s Yard may attempt to provide reasonable assistance or help coordinate assistance, but we do not guarantee that mechanical, recovery or roadside assistance will be available.

You should have appropriate breakdown or recovery cover where appropriate.

13. Accidents and emergencies

If an accident or emergency occurs during a ride, participants should prioritise immediate safety and contact the appropriate emergency services where necessary.

The Rider’s Yard may assist with coordination where reasonably possible.

Nothing in these Terms requires a participant to put themselves at risk to assist another person.

Where you have provided emergency contact information, we may use it where reasonably necessary.

14. Assumption of risk

Motorcycle riding involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

• Collision

• Falling from a motorcycle

• Road hazards

• Weather conditions

• Mechanical failure

• Actions of other road users

• Actions of other riders

• Injury

• Damage to property

• Serious injury or death

By participating in a motorcycle ride or activity, you acknowledge that these risks exist.

You should only participate if you are comfortable accepting the ordinary risks associated with motorcycle riding.

15. Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful.

This includes liability that cannot legally be excluded for matters such as death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit.

Subject to the above, The Rider’s Yard is not responsible for:

• Your motorcycle

• Damage to your motorcycle

• Loss of personal property

• Fines or penalties incurred by you

• Your failure to comply with the law

• Your failure to maintain appropriate insurance

• Your failure to maintain your motorcycle

• Your riding decisions

• Your actions or omissions

• Actions of other road users

• Actions of other riders

• Road or weather conditions

• Mechanical failures

• Delays or route changes caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control

Nothing in these Terms makes The Rider’s Yard an insurer of participants.

16. Personal property

You are responsible for your own belongings during rides, meet-ups and events.

The Rider’s Yard is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal property except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

17. Payments

Where The Rider’s Yard introduces paid memberships, events, merchandise or other services, the applicable price will be displayed before you make a purchase.

Payments may be processed through Wix Payments.

Additional payment-specific terms may be provided during the checkout process.

18. Cancellations and refunds

Where a paid service or event is offered, any applicable cancellation and refund terms will be displayed before purchase.

Where an event is cancelled by The Rider’s Yard, we will explain any available refund or alternative arrangements where applicable.

Nothing in these Terms affects statutory consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

19. Community behaviour

The Rider’s Yard is intended to be a welcoming community for motorcycle riders.

Members and participants must not:

• Harass other members

• Threaten or intimidate others

• Bully other members

• Discriminate against others

• Publish abusive or hateful material

• Deliberately endanger other riders

• Encourage illegal or dangerous riding

• Impersonate another person

• Share another person’s private information without permission

• Use the community for unlawful activity

• Spam members

• Attempt to defraud other members

• Damage the reputation or operation of the community through unlawful or seriously abusive conduct

We may remove content, restrict access or suspend membership where necessary to protect the community.

20. User-generated content

Members may have opportunities to submit or share content, including:

• Photographs

• Videos

• Ride reports

• Stories

• Comments

• Reviews

• Route information

• Other motorcycle-related content

You remain responsible for content you submit.

By submitting content, you confirm that:

• You have the necessary rights or permissions to submit it

• It does not knowingly infringe another person’s intellectual property rights

• It does not unlawfully disclose another person’s private information

• It does not contain unlawful or seriously harmful material

By submitting content to The Rider’s Yard, you grant us permission to use, reproduce and display that content for community and promotional purposes connected with The Rider’s Yard, unless otherwise agreed with you.

We may remove content that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms.

21. Intellectual property

The Rider’s Yard name, branding, logos, website design, written content, graphics and other original material created by or for The Rider’s Yard belong to The Rider’s Yard or the relevant rights holder.

You must not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute or commercially exploit our intellectual property without permission.

This does not prevent you from sharing links to our website or social media pages in a normal and lawful way.
